Isle of Mann, Switzerland, China, New York, Maine, and Washington are just a few of the countries and states visitors who have made Pioneer Museum part of their summer vacation hail from.
There is still plenty of time for you to come see what’s here. Arley Fadness of Custer has made his collection of memorabilia from years of Hot Air Ballooning available for viewing at the museum. This includes a 1935 edition of the Rapid City Journal which features historic flight from Black Hills Stratobowl, and a load ring from a balloon setup. This display will be exhibited through the end of the 2016 season, so come soon!
Several former residents also stopped by to see their old school and town. Les Jensen and family were here to revisit the “telephone” room, which holds switchboards and other memorabilia from the original telephone company which his grandfather and father established. He currently makes Oregon his home but keeps Hot Springs and the phone company close in his thoughts.
